Monkey Boy |

 Monkey boy is an ongoing project of producer and musician Matt Waddell.
He is the person who turned my songs into the mammoth Fat Rhino sound that we gigged in the late nineties.
My part in Monkey boy is usually to come up with melodies and sometimes lyrics to a well established track laid down in the studio by Matt. So our roles are quite separate in a writing sense, which suits my territorial single minded approach.
I love working with Matt, I can be quite primal musically, create havoc, make dreadful mistakes, but then lash out some vocal stuff that I didn't know was in me.....it's a bit like therapy, laugh therapy mostly.On the other hand he might tell me how he wants a track to sound...then it's a discipline.
There is no end to our working relationship, it's a life long meeting and parting of musical minds, and a friendship that has been locked by all those gigs and home |
